Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Leadership and Management
Recognising your prior learning
Studying alongside working can be a tricky balance — and why study something you’ve already mastered? Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) validates the skills you already have, awarding you the same formal qualification that would otherwise take hours of study to achieve.
We guide leaders through the RPL process, turning existing skills and experience into a Certificate IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management. Save time and money by skipping repetitive training and jump straight into demonstrating your expertise.
RPL is also a great way to boost your confidence. Having your abilities formally recognised can support career growth, opening doors to promotions, senior roles, and greater opportunities.

How does it work?
Depending on the level of qualification you wish to achieve, the RPL process requires you to complete a series of assessments to prove your proficiency in key areas of leadership and management. While the requirements differ by qualification, the process generally includes four key areas:
- Demonstrating your professional experience
- Operational planning and business management
- Leading and managing people
- Communication and leadership influence

What’s involved?
The RPL process is flexible and designed to work around your schedule. Here’s what to expect:
- Time commitment – The time required depends on your availability and how quickly you can provide the necessary evidence. Some complete the process in a few weeks, while others take a few months.
- Technology requirements – You’ll need a computer with internet access to upload your documents and complete assessments.
- Documentation – Have your resume, job descriptions, performance reviews, and any leadership-related certificates or training records ready.
- Involvement of others – You may need at least one other person (such as a supervisor, colleague, or mentor) to validate aspects of your experience.

How are you assessed?
The assessment process is straightforward:
- Upload your evidence – Submit your documents through our online platform.
- Assessment by an expert – An assessor reviews your evidence against qualification criteria.
- Additional information (if required) – If there are gaps, you’ll receive feedback and can resubmit your work.
- Certification issued – Once competency is confirmed, you’ll receive your formal qualification.
The assessment focuses on practical, real-world application — so if you’ve been leading teams or managing operations, you already have what it takes!
